I was thinking about this, I thought the last major technological development before AI was the smartphone
It seems to have had a real chilling effect on people, they're afraid to make mistakes in public or do as much because they're always being watched and possibly recorded
Addictive content is served quickly on the phones and things like social media and dating apps became popularly consumed on phones, which have dramatically affected relationships and how people perceive themselves
So what overall impact do you think smartphones have had on us, how might we mitigate some of the damage done by phones, or what do you think of what will replace smartphone technology and how much worse it could be potentially (AR glasses, brain implants, etc.)?
On one hand, people are much more atomized and disconnected, many are addicted to phones and the internet, they have had a negative effect on society
On the other hand, they have made the flow and access of information significantly easier. Even with jewish big tech companies trying to shut everything down, it's now unstoppable because of how the internet is. We would not be having these conversations that we have here without the internet and smartphones. We would not as a society be questioning israel en masse right now if not for the internet and smartphones. We would not be having conversations about how hitler was right and jews are evil without the internet and smartphones. We criticize boomers for being blissfully unaware, but a big reason why we are not unaware is because of damned phones. If the internet (and the smartphone) never existed, we would be as bluepilled as they are
Consider both sides of this when you have the discussion about whether phones have ruined society or not. On the one hand, they have had a pronounced negative effect. On the other hand, a massive positive. Technology is yin and yang.
Furthermore, I consider that Israel must be destroyed
