Its like everyone everywhere is constantly on edge, tired, irritated and angry. I don't know where this thought came from, but it came to me yesterday and hasn't left me.

Lord have mercy ☦🙏🏼

Find an Orthodox parish near you. Chances are you live closer to one than you think. Go easy on yourself, start by going to Saturday vigils and Sunday liturgies. Ask the pastor some questions, but maybe in a more polite way than niche internet forum parlance. If you are already baptized and you want to convert you can (and must) receive Chrismation although in extreme cases the supplicant is permitted new baptism. And don't make the mistake i made if you decide to get baptized into Orthodoxy, of fussing over the particularities of your baptism. I *expected* to get a full year-long catechism and be triple immersed in one of those late iron age hexagonal marble tubs King Clovis-style, the whole Imperial Byzantine nine yards. But i'm not living in Imperial Byzantium so i got a simple and modest baptism of triple-affusion in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit (amen).

And most importantly, be patient with yourself but be willing to make positive changes. Remember, God has already created you, that is, the real you God has created you as is somewhere beneath the muck and the filth. You are not your bad habits, and you are not even necessarily your good secular habits. We aren't supposed to become "good", we are supposed to become humble and empty ourselves and to join into God through theosis.

God bless, brother.
