Sadly, you’re mostly correct now. It wasn’t always this way, though. I still think it can be a somewhat healthy hobby as long as you’re hopping on to socialize with frens FIRST, AND FORESMOST a few hours a week to stay in regular contact, and talk “shop”.

With that said, unless you have health issues, and/or severely handicapped in some way, you should always shoot for doing more productive, tangible, and visceral activities using as much of your body, and mind as possible with frens, and family when possible. I haven’t gamed in about 10 years, but an example of this that always comes to my mind is the time I was supposed to lift with a fren, and then go play golf with him.

He cancelled on me due to some bullshit with the wife, so I decided to hit the weights, and then chat, and vidya with an out of state fren. I had just sat down, and booted up the game while downing a protein shake, and the first fren called me, and said he could still meet me at the golf course if I wanted. Needless to say, I said yes to golf(physicality), outdoors, and sunlight over being inside for a few hours.

I won’t pretend that gaming doesn’t have any physical benefits though. It definitely can, and does improve hand eye coordination, but I don’t believe you have to game more than a few hours spread out throuout the week to get most of those benefits. The people that really piss me off, and I know one are the people who neglect themselves, and their bodies at the costs of gaming more often. I know of someone who fits this to a T. He’s obese, games all the time at the cost of both his family, and sleep. None of this surprises me though, because I know he voted for Hilary Clinton. 🤣
