Look at France. The Germans occupied the northern part because it was necessary to fight Britain, but the French were given their own independent country and no Germanization occurred. So people who were literally under the Third Reich were not forced to learn German.
English would still be the dominant world language for the simple fact that it's much easier to learn than German.
the reason why we speak English is mostly because of the dominant American culture and also its the langauge of Trade (which the anglos dominated)
