People like to say Joseph Smith was the American version of Mohammed. Let's see how that compares.

> claims to be the final prophet of God

JS claimed no such thing. He prophesied of future prophets yet to come, and he pointed to the Bible to support his prophecies. In fact, like Moses, he encouraged everyone to prophesy, and delegated his authority as much as possible.

> No other prophet foretold his coming

It depends on how you interpret it, but some people point to specific verses in the Bible and then generic concepts like the Gathering of Israel in the last days that is a recurring theme in the Bible. God doesn't do anything without calling a prophet, so someone had to be called to execute the work to be done.

Being foretold isn't really a condition to be a prophet, though. Who foretold of Abraham's coming?

> Performs zero (0) miracles

The number of miracles that JS performed are insane. https://josephsmithfoundation.org/joseph-smith-miracles/ The most obvious miracle is the translation of the Book of Mormon.

> Illiterate, relies on other people to write his thoughts down for him.

JS had a 3rd grade education, and we have examples of his personally written documents, and in his early life he sounded like a retard (outside of the revelations.) Later on in life he became quite eloquent. He had to have multiple secretaries following him around to keep up with everything he was doing.

> Doesn't confer with any serious theologians

Many of the ones JS conferred with converted to the LDS church, from the earliest founding on. Sidney Rigdon, for example. He did spend a lot of time talking to other leaders of religion.

> Lives an unholy carnal lifestyle

It is true that JS was sealed (eternally married) to multiple women. We know that some of them were probably married for this life as well, and we have no first-hand witnesses of any sexual congress with them nor any offspring. Most of the time people would charge him with all sorts of nonsensical things and he would stand trial for it and be exonerated.

The one thing modern people get upset with is his marriage with the Kimball daughter who was 14 at the time. She was all but forced into it by her dad, and as far as we know JS showed up for the wedding and then never saw her again. We have a journal entry that her parents forbade her from attending a dance because she was supposed to act like she was married to JS. Again, no evidence of sexual relations nor any offspring.

JS claims that he was forced into plural marriage because God revealed it to him and with every revelation comes a commandment to obey it. Along with plural marriage came the teaching on eternal marriage. Whatever the case, the Bible definitely teaches that plural marriage is no sin, and there is plenty of historical evidence that the early Christians thought the same. It wasn't until much, much later when Roman and Greek thought dominated Christendom that they adopted the Roman and Greek ways of monogamy.

> Claims to talk to demons

There was an occasion when a being appeared in the form of an angel of light, but he was quickly detected and cast out.

JS claims to have spoken with God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and many angels who were righteous men in this life. All of the beings he conferred with testify of Christ's divinity and atoning sacrifice.

> Gives several prophecies which don't come true

So did Jesus and Jonah. Regardless, some of JS prophecies did come true, but that's not why we consider him a prophet anyway. No one was following Moses around the desert because he was good at telling the future, after all.

> Allah supposedly gives him information on Christian/Jewish theology that neither religion believes in

Meanwhile, Joseph Smith is revealing ancient scripture that were later discovered. IE, the Book of Abraham and Book of Moses has accounts from the various Books of Enoch that were later discovered. Joseph Smith was able to name geographical locations in Abraham's day that had been lost to history but rediscovered.

> Reveals several 'inspired' scientific theories which were obviously false in his own day

JS encouraged people to learn any and all subjects, including science, teaching the Saints that whatever knowledge they obtained in this life would go with them into the next. BYU's motto is "The Glory of God is Intelligence" which we interpret to mean that God wants us to learn all we can about everything.

> Claims that if he is a false prophet then he will be killed by having his aorta severed

Several of JS's revelation include the Lord chastising him for his weaknesses and sins. The Lord forgives him but on some occasions warns him if he doesn't shape up the Lord will call on someone else.

> Canonically dies by having his aorta severed

JS was killed by a mob. The historical evidence is that it was a political assassination. They tried to cut his head off but we now have 2 historical accounts that divine intervention prevented it. According to both a bright light appeared and there was thunder and the mob fled into the woods in fear.

> Have muslims never questioned this shit?

When it comes to Islam, I have 2 theories, neither of them good. Both come down to how we know anything at all about Mohammed, and the testimony is highly suspect. Likely, a very wicked man either took the story of Mohammed and perverted it, or invented it, to try and persuade his people not to follow Jesus or the jews. There are ideas that they were all being controlled by the catholics or the jews or both, but I don't see much evidence of that.

Regardless, this is what you get when people claim their scripture is infallible. Ultimately, someone needs to read and interpret those scriptures and as long as such a person is fallible then the scriptures cannot be infallible. If reality contradicts their book, or really, their interpretation of the book, it is reality that is wrong, not the book. People that believe the Bible is infallible fall into the exact same trap and are sometimes too stupid to realize it.

As for me -- Muslims accept that Jesus was a holy prophet, and if you read the Koran, he is actually superior to Mohammed. This suggests that if anything, Islam is more of a heretic Christian sect than anything else.

Compared with the jews, who think Jesus is boiling in shit in hell... We have better allies with muslims than them.

We seem to believe in the Bible, what it actually says.

You guys swore an oath to a man-made creed. The exact opposite of what Jesus wanted us to do.

Oh?

So you reject the Bible, because it teaches clearly that there are multiple gods?

VERY INTERESTING...

It doesnt. The father the son and the holy spirit are one. Just as you are mind soul and body. You are three in one as well. And we are made in God's image. There is not multiple gods. I have many reasons I reject Mormons beyond this. But thinking god will elevate you to being God of a planet for being a good mormon is peak cultist behavior. Utmost heresy. You are likely a good person. But you are actively following a false prophets message.
