The point isn't that men need a woman to be their therapist. It has to do with the loneliness problem.
When a woman:
* Touches you affectionately...
* Makes attentive eye contact when you speak...
* Says something kind...
* Sleeps in the same bed as you...
* Is simply a positive physical *presence* in your life over a sustained period...
It releases chemicals that are extremely regulating to your brain. In the absence or partial absence of these things, you will experience a psychological starvation effect that worsens with the duration and intensity of the absence.
Genetics and quality of upbringing make a lot of difference in how well someone can tolerate that starvation, but no one escapes it entirely. It's human nature—we are social animals.
Luckily, you can stave off the eroding effects of loneliness with ordinary human contact as well, but a wife is the perfect fulfillment of it.

I don’t think you realize how lonely some men, especially today, are. Some didn’t even have loving mothers, so to have a soft feminine female voice speak to them as if they’re human themselves is plenty more than they ever received from humans. Honestly though, it all scares the shit out of me.
