They've been doing it for years so they can get "PRs accepted" points on their GitHub by fixing typos in documents etc.
Now they can AI it and find inconsequential errors like functions that are never called or warnings that have no actual effect.
cURL in particular is getting hundreds of PR submissions because some AI claims it has found an error.
