Went through the apps on my Samsung just now. I didn't find the Aura app that he was talking about but there is an app called Samsung Cloud that I never installed (probably came with the phone or with an update) and it had pretty much every permission allowed on there and android says it accessed Calendar, contacts and SMS in the last 24 hours. The problem with "just use Huawei" or whatever; I've had OnePlus and other small brand or less common phones in the past and they stop getting updates almost immediately and basic functionality gets broken within a short period of time. My Samsung phones usually last 3-4 years before I have an urge to upgrade and they simply just work.

I've always had a suspicion that manufacturers were using updates to upload pictures/data back to them rather than download any meaningful updates. For example, I barely use my windows laptop anymore, and every single time I finish using it, it takes about 30 minutes to shutdown because it always has a bunch of "updates."

you likely activated the cloud feature when you setup your phone and never paid attention to it, leading to it saving everything (As it does by default) that's why it had all the "accessed contacts and sms" it was backing it up because you asked it to. Just delete everything from the cloud, remove all its permissions and uninstall it if you don't use it or have things you want saved. Local saving is better anyway, (((Cloud))) saving is gay
