I only wear a watch when I hunt, because I don't want to make the extra movement to pull out my phone to check the time, and even then I wear a $10 Casio

Unless you can convince everyone around you to do likewise, that won't make much difference. Only needs to be a recorder on one side of the conversation, after all. And flip phones also display the time. I used to be a watch wearer but stopped bothering after getting my first dumbphone.
