This mentality is one you see with people who have loads of disposable income. The cars are better! The houses aren't only 1200 sqft! The grocery store has avocados and two dozen kinds of cheese!

Except nobody can really afford anything. A Ford Falcon station wagon (a family car) would cost $23,000 new. That might get you one of the cheaper Kias now. Except instead of American workers being paid middle class wages, it's koreans. Even those same 1200 sqft houses are going for $200-300k.

Point is it's harder to live cheaply but still live well. You're basically living on hand-me-downs from the debt slaves. A savvy few can get away with it but as more people try to live that way the "cheap" second hand will rise in price as well.
