There is no spirit of competition when it's one team of overpaid mercenaries versus another, teams are functionally indistinguishable beyond the colors they wear and the budgets they have.
Spirit of competition is found in team sports where there is more uniting the team than just a paycheck and in individual sports where personal pride is on the line.
>respecting yourself enough to adhere to the integrity of the sport?
Pro-sports are centered around advertisement and the highest achievement for an individual athlete is to be able to land lucrative advertising deals. Why would you be expecting integrity from people who aspire to sell overpriced corn and soy products to children?
>Why watch at all if it's just a bunch of fucking lies underneath the facade of hype that determines the outcome...
I don't see much reason to watch without the lies, but given that the audience doesn't know the planned outcome I don't see what difference it would make to the viewing experience. If anything a degree of scripting could lead to more interesting seasons.

Hmmmm nevermind. Starting to see why americans like this stupid fucking sport. It runs just like our government.
