Just go AMD next gen. Their upscaling is almost as good now which is all that really matters cus temporal AA is a blurfest.
If buying new I would probably get a 9070XT ATM anyways. I just have a 4090 and 4070 for the kids PC/console so no reason to upgrade for years.

9070XT clownstomps the Nvidia options price to performance and has quite a bit lower CPU overhead in all DX 12 games so if you lack a 3D cache CPU this can be huge. Even on a 3D cache AMD is faster.

You also have Microsoft basically building Xbox PC's next gen with all in one CPU/GPU's like the consoles, so AMD will likely just play nice with everything.

Nvidia doesn't even care about gaming anymore, it just took forever for AMD to catch up and Nvidia cares more about their AI profits.

You have to use third party utilities these days with either brand to get the most out of them anyways. Nvidia's App is a complete shit show with stutter so you have to use Nvidia Inspector to force things like decent sharpening without trashing performance and you have like 3 utilities you can use to inject the newest DLSS or just throw the new dll in the game directory. AMD you have to use third party to get newest upscaling in all games, but they have radeon image sharpening in the driver which is awesome (can also do it with reshade but that can trigger anticheat).

The holy grail is either 4k native with upscaling to bypass dogshit AA or 1440p upscaled to 4k while also leveraging something like DLSS/FSR4. At this point though you may as well just go 4k and skip the irritating steps. Like on my 1440p display I have to change desktop resolution to 4k in some games that don't have true fullscreen, which blurs the shit out of everything. When I just use the 4k TV to play RPG's I just use DLSS and it looks perfect though depending on the game you might have to inject sharpening.

The problem is CUDA. AMD does not play well with CUDA and thus NVIDIA has a monopoly.

Yeah I was looking at it from a gaming, every day use angle.
