The genius behind that movie and script was Dan Akroyd
His mother was French Canadian and his father of English, Scottish, Irish, French, and Dutch descent.
Also Bill Murray is probably one of best improv comedic actors. I think they came out of the 70s chicago area comedy scene.
In real life, Dan Akroyd is into conspiracies, supernatural, ghost stories, etc. I think i remember from that old movie my girl that he said he lived in funeral home for a while or someone in his family owned a funeral home so he's always been interested in death, ghosts, etc.
