I have a theory on the tattoo thing.

1. Actual bad boys and actual bad girls got tattoos because it was part of gang initiation

2. Non-bad girls growing up wanted to fuck the bad boys and saw the bad boys with bad girls who had tattoos so the non-bad girls got tattoos thinking it would help them get bad boys

3. Non-bad boys started noticing non-bad girls getting tattoos and going for guys with tattoos so non-bad boys started getting tattoos in hopes the non-bad girls would go for them

4. Then a generation of this occured and a lot of these non-bad and bad girls with tattoos entered the porn industry + influencer industry + became celebrities (pop culture) and the younger generation saw people they idealized (or had crushes on) with tattoos so they also got tattoos to emulate their role-models and again, hope that they could get the lifestyle of the people they saw with tattoos.

Women of course are more easily influenced than men by "herd mentality" and thus more women started getting tattoos than men overall as it started to become a herd thing to do.

Basically, what started out as women trying to get fucked by bad boys turned into a whole epidemic for the entire population.

If the new "bad boys" all collectively decided they didn't like tattoos, you'd see the tattoo culture disappear in a generation or two. What I think some women are starting to find out though is no amount of tattoos will turn a nerd into a bad girl and she won't get the bad boy if she isn't hot enough regardless of tattoos. As this information becomes more apparent, we may also start to see less tattoos as more non-bad women give up trying to attract bad boys.

I think it's even simpler. Tattoos are seen as rebellious and unique. As they became more popular, the effect wore off
