A classic example for "thing that is so blatantly bad that anyone who hears it just goes 'oh no that's terrible!' as a knee-jerk emotional response and doesn't think anymore about it"

Because if you *do* think about it more, you realize how fucking stupid it is. Lemme ask you a question, what would make better gator bait: A rabbit carcass. Or, A stupid fucking little niglet who's going to scream and cry and try to run off and just generally be a nuisance and impossible to work with.

I don't know about you, but If I were trying to hunt gators, I'd just pick the dead animal, and honestly, I think the Alligator would too.
