I had to look this up but apparently one of the founders has the last name of "Simpson" and the brand was started back in like 2013-2015 or so. They initially focused on simple syrups for cocktails. Not inherently bad but unfortunately the guy's nickname became slang. RIP

By coincidence, I just happened to be on FB and there was some dude with the last name "Simpkins". All I could think to myself was, "If that was my last name, I'd change it."
