I had to look this up but apparently one of the founders has the last name of "Simpson" and the brand was started back in like 2013-2015 or so. They initially focused on simple syrups for cocktails. Not inherently bad but unfortunately the guy's nickname became slang. RIP

They had to have known, or someone should have told them. They don't have the excuse of saying its a heritage name from the 1800's or something. They deliberately chose to name their company "simps" in 2014.
