He saved me from a world of hurt. I'm not one for keeping my mouth shut or "going along to get along." All my friends enlisted. We didn't stay friends when they got out. They weren't the same, and not for the better. They were "empty" bodies. I'm guessing most of you know what I mean.

They killed, they had their comrades killed, they witnessed reprehension they can't find words for, and they figured out that they served uppity interests. All their hardship, their sacrifice had no real purpose. They had to obey idiotic orders sometimes. Maybe be even have to serve with women, who received special treatment. It was all a lie, it was all for nothing, it wasn't even serious, and they can barely express it. PTSD is also an occasional reward on top of it. And many people won't even thank you for your sacrifice... and you know you don't deserve it.

"The world is fucked, I am fucked" is pretty much the conclusion. It's not pride, it's rather a sense of embarrassment, shame and disgust. They went in with youthful, naive optimism, guessing what's the worst that could happen? Death, huh? Well, the worst doesn't have to happen - *bad* is enough. How about shooting civilians who were renitent to obey your orders? Or civilians who looked like they pulled a gun, so you shot them first? Children maybe? Or getting shot by a child with a real gun? How about having good relationships with people in a village, and then suddenly there is a trap laid out for you, which your comrade triggered and got maimed by? You think they are traitors? Why are you there? Because you signed up for it foolishly. So who are you REALLY angry at? Yourself? Your parents? Your friends? The government? Everybody - optimism turned into pure cynicism and nihilism.

General Patton realized the USA took the wrong side in WWII. When he returned to the USA after the war, he was going to be an outspoken critic of the war and plant in the mind of every White man in America that maybe the USA took the wrong side in World War II. That's precisely why they had to kill him. They drove a huge Truck into his vehicle that he was being escorted in. They crushed his body. He still tried to live in the hospital. Maybe they killed him in the hospital because getting his body smashed was not even enough to take him out. Keep in mind that back then vehicles were made of hard steel with no bumpers or Styrofoam or airbags.
