So your mother is nothing more than the body? No other aspect of her ever existed? You could take those exact cells and duplicate them and it would mean exactly the same thing to you?

Love is the expression of energy causing a thing to grow *(localized reversal of entropy).* Corpses are not able to grow, so you cannot love a corpse.
You can love living people, by providing them with food, shelter, companionship.
You cannot love a rock.
You can, in a way, love an idea, by spreading it. But even this is not of the same character as loving a living thing.
By a great stretch, it could be said that by loving yourself you are loving your mom. But in this way, you could also say that you *are* your mom. It's not usually a useful extension of the idea.

An idea is a thing. A person is more than meat. The idea of a person can grow beyond his death.

If you were mentally ill, sure. But that doesn’t explain why you now hate your ancestors and everything they created for you.
There is no life in a corpse, so there can not be hate.
