Yeah... that rarely if ever happened.

Even when God gave them their land back, the first thing they did was start flaunting God's laws. Read Nehemiah and Ezra. It does not end on a happy note.

Jeremiah spoke about how God has beaten every square inch of their body blue and asks where he could strike more.

The prophecies in the Bible point to a future day when Israel stops rejecting God and THEN and ONLY THEN they are returned to their lands. And when they come back, they find the lands are full of foreigners who had already accepted God.

The people living in Israel today are NOT Israelites.

Judges is really the book to reference here, it's a conga line of "Once again the Israelites did evil in the sight of the LORD."
