That is because "They Live", while being very meme-able, is still Hollywood. Carpenter was making a sort of anti-corporate/anti-capital movie, which of course makes it about the JQ but only by accident lol.

This is obvious by the line you reference. In the 80's there was anti-natalist propaganda being pushed framing marriage and child rearing as "conformist", and implying that "big business" only wanted you to have kids so there would be more worker units or whatever.
