This isn't what you think.
Skin whitener is used in Asian countries mostly because poorer people traditionally had suntans because they worked in the rice-fields whereas rich Asians lived in comfort indoors.
This is a known phenomenon globally, so you can assume that *everybody* (who cares) did this. That statistic still shows that the females of the slave races still try to hide their subhumanity.

This is pretty interesting. Southeast Asia still has the same view of skin tone that the West used to have: Pale is beautiful (because pale means you don't work outside like a peasant). Obviously East Asians have a different base skin tone than Whites, but the idea of lightening skin to appear more attractive is the same. So that explains three of the countries on this list.
For India, obviously this is about caste. Lighter skin means higher caste. So if they can make themselves appear like less of a mongrel, that's more attractive.
For Nigeria, I don't fucking get it. No matter how much skin lightening products a sheboon uses, she's still going to have black skin. Retarded.
It’s more racial than that in SEA. There’s a few dozen different racial groups in Thailand/myanmar/viet and the darker skin tones are lowest on the pecking order, especially among women.
Thats why I love Asia. They’re one of the few places that actively promotes and encourages white beauty standards.

The psychology of cosmetics is not actual results, but the hopeful promise of those results. Why do you think all those disclaimers say "results after six, eight, twelve weeks." They want to keep those women hooked at $20, $40, $60 a bottle for all that time.

like darker skin were assosiated with works in the fields and other labor that's basically slave-tier
