Not Catholic but always wondered why they venerated the virgin Mary. Was it because jews preached from the beginning that she was a prostitute and Jesus was the bastard son of a Roman soldier?

The Virgin Mary is the Holy Mother of God. Venerating her and Saints are an ancient Christian practice ordained by Christ Himself and the Apostles. They intercede for you on behalf of God, just like Jesus whom you also pray to. Venerating and praying to Saints and Mother Mary is not worshiping them as idols; we are to only worship God. But praying to them is an act of worship towards God. Note; I'm not Catholic or Orthodox because they're both jewed, but I do understand much of Holy Tradition and follow it. Also important to note that jews are not Israelites or Hebrews, they're edomites. Today's White Europeans and Americans, thus you, are the Israelites and Hebrews, the same ethnicity as Jesus, Mary and all the Apostles.
