I'm not against state healthcare and education, but there are inherent problems that I don't see addressed in any implementation.
#1 Nobody should have access that doesn't contribute to society.
Tax leeches, immigrants, etc do not deserve communal services because they don't contribute to the community. If you don't pay tax, you should be required to contribute labour. If you're new to the country, your native born descendents can get access *after* you die.
#2 Hypocondriacs
Why should I pay for Sharon's 13th Covid/flu shot? Or Phil's 10th MRI this year? High levels of use need to make up for it somehow. This extends to people who intentionally make themselves sick (smokers, fatties, etc)
#3 Competiton
In Canada, due to a "shortage" of doctors (because the pay is better literally anywhere else) I've been stuck with my "family doctor" since I was a kid, and she's a butcher. There needs to be some way for good doctors to serve more patients while starving shitty doctors out of practice.
I would like to live in a country with institutions which strengthen my people, and to which I would gladly contribute, but I don't see anything like that today.
