Atheists follow a religion because they believe in dogma. They all uniformly believe in the same things which means that they are not irreligious, their religion just doesn't recognize a God. They seem incapable of coming to conclusions that challenge another atheist. In fact, actual religion is less dogmatic and unified in its belief than atheism tends to be. Orthodox, catholic, and protestant Christians are not in communion because they disagree on scripture. Shia and sunni Muslims disagree on the line of succession from Muhammad. Even the jews have strife within competing interests of their own communities. Such problems do not bother the atheists, who simply latch on to whatever new age idea they want to and never challenge that narrative, and attack non believers (only ever christians and Muslims, never jews, interesting) under one banner of atheism. They are in fact the most dogmatic religion on earth
