I've heard this before.
Just like your Republican friends who swore they'd never vote Republican again and then got lured back in
Their identities are wrapped around being a sports ball fan or in this case a political party. They can hate them this week for playing bad, but next week they are back cheering for them.
Those that are heavily vested in being a Democrat can't change.
