Here's the formula.

When you meet someone, either they are a friend, they are neutral, or they are an enemy.

A friend is there to help you. Obviously, you welcome that help and reciprocate.

A neutral person doesn't care about you in any way. Feel free to ignore them.

But an enemy is trying to hurt you or stop you from achieving your goals.

Some people think you can ignore enemies. You can't. They MUST be neutralized. This can be because you have rendered them completely powerless to stop you. Or it is because you have persuaded them to no longer oppose you. It doesn't matter.

If there are people actively trying to hurt you, you cannot pretend they are powerless to do so. You MUST neutralize the threat. The sooner, the better.

Now we know who are enemies are, better than ever. Persuading them to stop trying to hurt you is completely ineffectual. That leaves only one option: Neutralize them. Find every way they can screw you over, and take actions so that they can't use those methods. Actively identify and understand your enemies.

There is no other option.

If you chose to ignore your enemies, you WILL get hurt, and you WILL suffer for it.
