This is not even comparable to the assassination attempt on Trump, where the guy fired multiple shots and missed. The person who killed Charlie knew what they were doing, aiming at the jugular artery, possibly a professional. The fact that they couldn't even find the person makes no sense. How long is it going to take for someone to escape the roof top and get away with it? Isn't US intelligence so good it can catch people doing crimes from different parts of country and even the world? If they don't catch the person it's because it WAS an inside job..

Jugular is a damned tiny point to hit at 200m especially if you are an amateur, you are scared, your hands are trembling worried you will get caught etc. Guy is moving too, gesturing while talking, turning his head left and right to view the audience etc. If they miss it's possible to save the person from a neck shot. IMHO, this was a missed headshot that hit the jugular by sheer fluke.

If it was pro (it's possible there was a guy signalling next to him with hat) then who knows.

What i'm surprised with is how fast he died (or seemed "out"). Must have went through and hit spinal cord too or something.

the armchair ballistics experts on 4chan were suggesting he was killed by secondary fragments due to 'plate armor spalling'. the initial shot may have been directed at his chest, but went up into his neck upon impact.

I know nothing of these things, but his shirt moved in a way that seemed weird in the first 1-2 video frames of impact.

No matter who made that shot, under those circumstances, and at that distance, it wasn’t easy like many want to keep suggesting.

Was a head shot even possible? The shooter was three floors up on the roof and Kirk was a floor below ground in the amphitheater. So the shooter was what 40 feet above Kirk who was under a tent? Was his head even visible?

I don't think that would have been a problem - the tent wasn't really that deep, he was sitting not standing, and 200 yards is 180 meters so that's quite a ways back.

I wonder if there wouldn't have needed to be a spotter? If you are scoped in on the target, you won't nessesarily see the hat guy. Could have been a second guy next to the shooter that was spotting for the signal.

It's a .30-06 rifle round, any hit to the center upper torso is going to be the end. It looks like it hit him in the lower left neck/upper left chest which is right where the carotid and subclavian arteries are. Not toi mention proximity to the aorta. If it was the carotid with the amount of blood loss he would have near instantly lost blood pressure to his brain, then it's lights out. Spinal damage is possible too but that would be secondary. You saw him grip his fists and twist, then slump like someone with a brain injury, not go limp like a spinal. Apologies if this is too morbid.

Even a “pro” under those extreme circumstances, and consequences at play can miss by a couple of inches. People really don’t understand how hard making that shot is for most people.

Interesting video - I figured it would have been easier but if people had that much trouble at 100 yards then 200 would have been that much harder.
