>Abraham married a canaanite woman and his half-sister.

Hagar wasn't a canaanite. She was an Egyptian, a midianite. Ishmael also still had an inheritance. Ishmael inherited *a lot* despite not being the promised child of Abraham. Isaac was chosen for the covenant lineage but Ishmael was still blessed otherwise. Like Japheth vs Shem, not like Jacob and Esau.

> Hagar was an Egyptian

OK, let me try to explain this to you. It says she was an "Egyptian slave". What does that mean? Was she an Egyptian that happened to become a slave? Or was she a slave from Egypt? Likely, given the context, Hagar came out of Egypt with Abraham and Sarai, so thus, "Egyptian", in the same way you'd call a camel you brought out of Egypt "Egyptian".

Now, when did Hagar become a slave to Sarai? We can probably imagine Sarai went out raiding Egyptian villages and taking slaves. (no that is absurd.) Most likely, when Abram and Sarai went into Egypt, and Pharaoh fell in love with Sarai, he gave her gifts, including slaves that he took in battle and raids.

Where would Pharaoh go to get slaves? From Egyptian villages? No, most likely he was raiding the land of Canaan.

THUS, HAGAR IS LIKELY A CANAANITE.

> Ishmael inherited a lot

None of it came from Abraham. He sent Hagar and Ishmael out with basically nothing. They went like a few feet away and almost died from dehydration. An angel had to save them.

And when Abraham died, he gave nothing to Ishmael. Thus, he inherited nothing.

Ishmael created his own nation with his own hands. Or if you prefer, God gave Ishmael lots of stuff. Either way, same story.

Abraham was probably alive long before Egypt raided canaan at all (and this is as much of an assumption as saying that hagar was probably a canaanite).

Abraham was also probably alive when Egypt was in its middle kingdom phase. A time when Egypt did not have much war period, so most of its slaves came from debt slavery and as a judicial punishment.

Furthermore, the Bible probably would have said if hagar was a canaanite. Because it said so in every other case

And, barring all of that, it literally says that Ishmael is given a promise by God in genesis 21.
