I made it very clear to my wife that we wouldn't circumcise our boys. Even in our church, we're the weird ones for not doing it.

It can't be a coincidence that circumcision became popular in the US around the same time as dispensationalism.

I keep seeing Dispensionalism referenced. From what I can read it's about breaking up God's intervention with the world into ages. Obviously the people involved with it are all Zionists. But other than that was is the issue with it, theologically?

The main issue is that Dispensationalists view that God has 2 covenant people, israel and the church, and that God really cares more for Isreal and that God still has future promises to fulfill for them.

Whereas for the vast majority of church history (1850+ years) most Christians understood that the church is the true Isreal and that it is those who have faith in Christ who are truly children of Abraham.

A major distinction of dispensationalism is zionism, and an eschatology that says that Isreal will be reestablished, a third temple will be built, and there will be a pretribulational rapture of the church.

This is where we get all the boomer evangelicals sending money to the "fellowship of Christians and jews" or buying shofars and prayer shawls.

If your eschatology says that israel is God's chosen nation, and that you must bless israel or you'll cursed, then of course we should send a gorillion dollars every year and send our men to die for them.

And dispensationalists also believe we need to support israel so they can build the third temple, so the anitchrist can set himself up as the abomination of desolation, so God can rapture the church before the tribulation begins.

If you tried explaining that to a christian before the 1850s, nobody would have understood a word you were talking about.

I like to say "Jesus was the last Jew (Israelite)". He made it clear that the path to God was through Him alone, and nothing to do with birthrights, more than likely because of how many of the "Chosen" decided to spit in God's face.

In my opinion, God disestablished Judaism as a religion and Jews as a physical nation in 70AD at the destruction of the temple.

I see a bunch of churchians defending their mutilating more diligently than almost anything.

Its this weird thing for judeo-christians. They care more about cutting foreskins than about usury, homosexuality, or bombing people. It's their sacred cow.

It's even weirder when you read the Bible and see the Apostles saying to stop doing it.

It strays dangerously close to judaizing for my taste.
