There is a power to changing your name. I do believe that certain names/ words draw specific "energy" from the world. I've seen a few different explanations, from many different approaches (like Numerology), but I do believe it's true. Words have power. I don't have a definitive theory, but I do believe their are "cursed" and "blessed" names.
