Majdanek was revised from seven figures down to five. The Auschwitz revision is justified on the argument that "We (Jewish holocaust scholars) always believed the number was inflated, but the Soviets wanted to keep it at four million out of national pride" or something. I'm not satisfied with that explanation and I still don't know what the "oopsies!" reasoning was.

But just the fact that, before our waking eyes, people of my generation were taught one story of an Aushwitz-centered holocaust where four million were killed in these impossible 'gas chambers', two million in other camps by similar methods, with an additional five million gentile victims, only to see the story change to 960k jews and 70k non-jews in Aushwitz, with 100k here and there in the other alleged 'death camps', citing the five million non-jews now considered blasphemic revisionism, and the remaining sum simply attributed to a new 'holocaust by bullets in the north" story for which no new proof is presented, is enough to understand that the holocaust narrative is, at best, an unfalsifiable grand narrative which operates without rigor.

if you look up the name Francizek Piper, you find references to the document in which the Auschwitz revision is presumably justified in detail. However, it's not available as a complete text anywhere digitally. Some book sites are selling copies for $50. In my most jaundiced assumptions, I imagine the reasoning is more akin to 'Holy shit, the KGB archives are open and the goyim are going to know this is all bullshit! We have to concoct a more reasonable limited hangout for the camp death tolls!"
