A lot of people wonder why we have the government we do in the US. They imagine that some other form of government would be way more efficient and manage to get more done with less conflict.
They are right.
We have the government we have BECAUSE it is inefficient. Anyone entering government to try and use its awesome power for their own ends is immediately struck by two solid facts, almost as immutable as gravity: (1) They will never be able to do what they want, and (2) They will spend the rest of their life dealing with government.
The rest of us don't care. The vast majority of Americans have very limited encounters with the government. We spend all of our time ignoring it or avoiding it. If we have to deal with it, our "kung fu" is learning how to keep government completely powerless to do anything. In the rare occasion that government is able to ever catch one of us ignoring them, and if they ever try to prosecute us, we rest assured that we can game the system for another 20 years before any real justice happens. Assuming, of course, that we don't chimp out.
What do they plan on buying with that money?
