All the jews knew what was coming but for zero good reasons none of them left their country. This one was given a chance to escape to Russia and again for no good reason turns it down.

Sent to a different work camp. To work. Hates it. Find it less humiliating because he felt needed and qualified to do that work.
No shit these people are all mentally unwell. To wit: "We got a 1kg loaf of bread between 4 inmates. We cut it into four portions and weighed each by a set of homemade scales, to make sure that everybody got exactly the same weight, not a gram more, not a gram less." For the love of Christ! Concentration Camp Accountants!
Plus tons of other highly specific details, exact weights, times, measures, counts, temperatures. Amazing the level of detail. Even including the crematoria (of course) with chimneys that leaked fire on all four sides?
