This is the nefarious facet of the whole "JQ".... defining what "Jew" means ... this is what the time between 30 AD and 1000 AD was about... developing Rabinical and then Talmudic theologies to oppose the rise of Christianity and later Islam.
One key element was a flip from the way genealogy was done in Polytheistic Judaism, 1st/2nd Temple Judaism, where lines of male descendants were used to show familial genealogy. Yet anyone familiar with todays Jew will know that the opposite is true today, and the rule is if your mother is Jewish that makes you Jewish..... this flip is what allowed the situation OP desceibed, with different local phenotypes infiltrating what is suposed to be an insular religious minority that prefered to live apart...

God made sure to destroy every connection to Himself at the destruction of the 2nd temple. All records of bloodlines lost. Noone knows who is really jewish. There is a remnant that will be saved to fulfill prohecy. But modern jews are ukrainian converts or northern africans. The only way to be gods people now is to believe in Jesus Christ which was the goal the whole time.
