Something you'll see frequently in normiecon spaces is someone will post a pretty reasonable and bland video about someone complaining about immigration, job in security, costs of living, just the usual sort of gripes people have growing up in the modern day and in the comment there's always some faggot using anything visible in the background as an example of wasteful spending or failing that they'll just cite ownership of a Cell phone to film with while completely ignoring not only the change in retail price but also the positive effect that rampant consumerism has had on the second hand and ultra low end markets and the fact that most things really only "show age" if they're poorly taken care of or old enough to follow different design practices but technology and visual aesthetic has been pretty consistent for the last 15 years with even plenty of things from 30 years ago not looking out of place in a modern household.
Basically just because someone *looks* to be living like a king by the standards of even just 20 years ago that doesn't inherently mean they're spending money anywhere near like what someone would have spend back then to have a similar looking home because what was brand new then is 20 years old now but still looks new due to the the only visual signs of age on plastic being slight oxidation which will generally be uniform per color, even scratches don't show up easily and there's rarely even any paint to chip. while things may be built to fail they'll still look brand new.
