I know a guy living near starting back in the 60s Ottawa who basically had his property tax covered in perpetuity in exchange for keeping his few hundred acres cleared of dead wood. Now all of the land around there is zoned "Environmentally Protected" which means you can't do *anything* to block or slow the spread of fires, for 1,000s of kilometers.
And the the Libs cry "global warming"...
