This is actually a horrible fucking idea. It can cause sinkholes, permanently damage the soil for those who garden, poison groundwater, etc etc. Find other ways to utilize spent motor oil, but do **not** just dump it in a hole full of rocks.
Here's an unexpected use for used oil (gas works as well!). Ants. If you're digging in your yard and hit an ant bed, just pour some oil or gas on the ants and they die immediately.
No need to set them on fire! The fumes will kill them instantly and the gas/oil will soak through the soil extremely quickly. I gas em whenever they crop up, after a good rain or somesuch. The only downside is that it will kill some grass around the area.
