It might have been a sign of the times, but as a young man I was in Paris (around 25 years ago) and a girl asked me to pretend to be her boyfriend because another guy was bothering her. I told the offending guy to back off because this french girl was my "woman". He said "Your woman? Like you own her?" and I said, "Yes."
It doesn't seem so bad until you realize that Europe has been conquered, ironically Sweden was first, and France is basically destroyed. So you tell me how far this ideology gets you.
