This is how heroes were born.
It ancient times it was hand to hand combat. You had to kill a dude face to face. Sometimes that dude would kill hundreds of people in a battle.

Guns ruined everything, well it started with the crossbow, at least a regular bow required practice and skill.

My boss, Caesar, has the right philosophy on guns in war in my opinion. War should be fought by recruits with melee weapons, who advance to better weapons as they progress through the ranks.
Guns ruined might makes right, now it's just a pull of the trigger.
Might makes right is lizard-brain level civilization, and still exists today. Guns had no effect on it whatsoever.
