Notice that article plays damage control by avoiding the fact that jews controlled the Dutch Trading companies and tries to assign most blame to their goy workers and also avoids that many "Christians" had fake conversions and roleplayed as Christians like Aaron Lopez who helped build the first US synagogue.     The Dutch West India Company (run and controlled by jews) was involved in the trafficking of enslaved Africans to the colony, and these auctions were one way they built up the colony using enslaved labor as cheaply as possible.

    This direct trade with Africa began around 1655 after the Dutch (jews) lost control of (the much larger South American slave trade in) Brazil and refocused on New Netherland (this would include parts of what are now the states of New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Connecticut).
    
While this was the first large-scale direct auction, it's important to remember that enslaved people were present in New Amsterdam even earlier, arriving in smaller numbers through Dutch West India Company ships and from areas like the Caribbean.
