He apparently feels the need to distance himself from his father. That's a bit of a bummer.
Other than that could go either way.
Sometimes.
Sometimes, if your father was a great man or was well known in his field, he will have a shadow you can't escape (e.g. you'll be known for a while as xxx's son rather than as your own person). Depending on your goals, it might be worth it to be known just as yourself.
