It's also important that people who AREN'T (South)East Asians make up only 0.45% of the population. South Asians (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh) are a miniscule 8.8% of foreign citizens and 0.20% of the total population. Also the working hours are down in recent years (Over 200 hours less per year since 2010) because karoshi (overwork death) got to the point the government had to address it. It's not like they're unaware either, the Japanese are generally not fans of immigrants like how you imagine immigrants. The Japanese tend to picture immigrants as either Southeast Asian (Think Filipino or Taiwanese) or European/American. As of 2018, 43% of readers in an Asahi Shinbun poll said they were against the increase of immigrant workers (Note it's WORKERS specifically, not random loiterers like in the UK), and that number is probably much higher now. They are a tolerant people but they have breaking points.
Another interesting fact is that Japanese culture in some ways is inherently incompatible with Islam. 99.94% of bodies in Japan are cremated, a mortality rate of 11.74 per 1,000 people yearly gives us about 1.46 million deaths every year, of which only about 87,000 were not cremated. Cremation is seen as disrespect to the body in Islam, and is forbidden. They also have an above-average rate of alcohol consumption, and a famous drinking culture, meanwhile alcohol is also haram.
