There's a huge difference in perspective.
In Christianity, we don't look at the Bible as the sole source of all of God's infinite truths. In fact, the Bible clearly points us to worship God directly and to engage with the Holy Spirit, which is the true educator. Thus, the text of the Bible was never intended to be a compendium of all Christian thought and doctrine, but just enough to get the reader to approach God and to learn directly from Him.
The jews, however, don't trust God or his spirit, and need to try and argue about every little point possible.
You'll also note that people who obsess about tiny points of doctrine in Christianity are doing exactly what Jesus condemned in the Bible. Straining at nats and swallowing elephants. Christianity is not a science or a debate club, its a worldview and an ethos and a prescription for positive action.
