Every time something happens, another wave of "I'm not falling for it again" leaves the party.

After all this time, who's left? ONLY people who WILL fall for it again. Any public recruitment drive under an identity banner (like maga) is only good for five years before there's more idiots than the group can handle. You have to be exclusive to maintain group identity.
