>New York is trying to build their own toe hold.
See what I mean? You live in an imaginationland. I can tell you have *never* even been to New York, have *never* met anyone from there, and thus you just imagine shit to be mad at.
New York has *been* a "15 minute city" for DECADES, before even the WEF. The city was planned and built before cars even existed. Traffic in New York is so ridiculous that nobody can drive because you can't move. Theres nowhere to park and the city has an army of parking enforcement who sits next to your meter and tags you the second the flag flips. As a result, almost nobody even owns a car. Christ many New Yorkers don't even know how to drive. None of this is new, this has been New York for over fifty years.
Because nobody owns a car every block has a ground floor bodega and market. New Yorkers will spend their entire lives in the city and never leave. Anywhere you want to go farther than walking distance is exclusively served by public transportation.
New York and European metros are the *model* for "15 minute cities" but strangely you never invented this brain worm conspiracy retardation fifteen or twenty years ago.
It was only when the jews like Alex Jones programmed your NPC orders in to you to be afraid that you took the bait.
>No city anywhere is like that.
The "center" of every fucking town in the country is a Walmart surrounded by 30 square miles of asphalt, surrounded by Olive Gardens and IHOPs.
Drive anywhere and open your eyes. Small town America has been dead since the 90s. The places that don't have a Walmart get all their groceries from a Dollar General.
>Cool. Go live there.
The fact that you can't understand the benefit of a local pub for the community to meet, mingle, discus events, but instead you probably think a franchised bar like Distill is equivalent, is comical. Pubs are the community center. You don't just go to drink yourself to death like people do in American bars. You have a meal, chat with locals, play a game.
There's nowhere in America like that and we suffer badly for it.
Why the fuck do you think Beer Halls and colonial pubs were where ascendent revolutionary governments were formed?
You'd be surprised how many local pubs are still alive around the US, close to major cities even. I know of one 30 minutes outside of Phoenix that has a fucking weekly rodeo.

You say that but American bars don't even fill that role. First you need someway to even get there and back legally which means you either need a designated driver or to spend $50 to pay some shitskin to from Uber, then drinks are $10 each so you're easily looking at over $100 to get drunk, and then on top of that public intoxication is illegal so if at any point you step foot off private property and even likely if you don't you're risking heavy fines from a cop waiting outside the bar for people to leave.
