I'm out of the loop; what exactly is the connection between Palatir and Israel, other than the standard "our greatest ally" rhetoric? I know they're providing services to the IDF, but they service lots of countries.

That explains the Vance/Thiel connection, but who exactly is Thiel? His public face is a guy who happens to invest at the perfect time, knows everyone, and can friends in high places, but it feels like he's a middle man. Where did his money come from to start investing?
