It's pretty funny how basically every fictional character made in asian media, especially the attractive ones, look distinctly european. Anything from anime, to korean manhwa, to even tv shows where the actors get infinity plastic surgeries to look as white as possible and dye their hair brown/blond. i've seen a bunch of cope around this especially from ethnocentric asians. About how it's just what their "beauty standards" are, or how they're based on cats or something, or even that it's us "projecting what we see as normal" when it's painfully obvious that they just want to look white. They bleach their skin, get blepharoplasties, rhinoplasties and shave off bits of their jaws for a reason, and it's not some genetic memory from which that's what their culture finds attractive. They wish they looked white

Fantasy uses elves as metaphor for beauty. Europeans are elves to the rest of the world.

Anime fans when you tell them that they actually do live in a world with multiple humanoid races that have different abilities, strengths, and weaknesses

Very well put. The biggest cope is "anime characters look Japanese to the Japanese! You just think theyre White because youre White!"

[Uh huh. Sure.](https://a.storyblok.com/f/178900/597x1067/d3ac9852de/a93a8b934d2c6acb87d29ee830c565281328561575_full.jpg/m/597x1067)

True. Sometimes it is hard to see what Asian people actually look like because the ones on TV have so much surgery.
