Me too. I spent 6 months there and loved it and the people, and left because I valued their culture enough to leave it alone. Also, the constant politeness began to wear on me.

well if you were in Japan several hundreds ago they probably would have been less polite to you lol. . There's a missionary who went to Japan in the 1550's who said that they were polite to each other but not to foreigners
