It's not really good to encourage that behavior in our own people. But, when they do it themselves, it marks them in a visible way to warn others of the danger. It happened with the face masks during Covid, certain piercings, most tattoos, "pride" logos, BLM, Antifa flags, etc. Even specific language used indicates who a person is, their allegiances, what they believe, and what (or how little) they know.
